Catalytic Generators, 50 years leading excellence in fruit ripening technology

As we come to the end of the year, CATALYTIC GENERATORS is proud to have celebrated its 50th anniversary. Looking back, they have made significant advancements in the fruit industry, driven by its commitment to innovation and progress. The team has worked hard to develop significant ethylene application technologies and solutions that have helped them stay ahead of the curve.

A glimpse into history

This is how it all began with this humble and funny looking little device. Once the concept was validated and Catalytic Generators' fruit ripening equipment was embraced by customers, significant improvements were made.

A bit more industrial, in the late 70's Catalytic Generators made its ethylene generator easier to use. It was "Easy"... soon the company was creating a brand.

Soon thereafter, the Easy-Ripe® premiered. With a stainless-steel cabinet making it beautiful and durable, under the hood is top technology for clean and efficient ethylene production.

Today, Catalytic Generators offers several types of generators and systems, each with their own unique advantage in the ripening or degreening process.

A Salute to the Man

The biggest reason Catalytic is 50 years old is Gene Akins.

From 1979, a few years after the founding of the company, Gene took a small, fledgling business and led it to become the industry leader in ethylene for fruit ripening. With his passionate support of the banana and tomato industries, he worked tirelessly to help increase consumption of these fruits.

Even after "retirement" last year, Gene continues to work and helps Catalytic with sales and support to tobacco farmers. Yes, Catalytic Generators products even help degreen tobacco!

The company is deeply grateful to Gene for his years of leadership and expertise. We hope to continue to build on his legacy of hard work, positive / can-do attitude and trustworthiness.
