Tips for proper citrus degreening

Cold and CA, Measurements

Many types of citrus fruits, including lemons, grapefruit, oranges, and tangerines, can be degreened by exposure to 1-10 ppm ethylene for 1-3 days.

The temperature at which degreening should occur is in the range of 68 to 86°F (20 to 30°C). The temperature, ethylene level, and exposure time that should be used for each type of citrus and cultivar vary, so for further recommendations we suggest that you contact your local Ag extension agent, university expert, or another experienced citrus postharvest specialist.

Designed by CATALYTIC GENERATORS with safety and efficiency in mind, Citrus Ethylene Generator emits ethylene in continuous, safe and small amounts to maintain the proper low ethylene concentrations for uniform degreening.

Advantages

  • Designed to produce low levels of ethylene as required for the citrus degreening process
  • Easy to attain 10 ppm or less
  • Adjustable ethylene output allows for adaptation to any ethylene PPM requirement and any room size
  • Produces consistent, non-pressurized and safe ethylene levels for uniform degreening
  • No mixture with inert gas is needed as our system is inherently safe
  • There are no residues as a result of ethylene application

Repeatable over many use cycles, the performance of Catalytic Generators makes ethylene application the easiest part of the degreening process..
