INTERKO, the global leader for the design, manufacture and installation of state-of-the-art fresh fruit ripening rooms, will attend ExpoAlimentaria Peru for the first time on 21-23 September 2022.

The Dutch company plans to expand its Latin American footprint in view of the myriad of tropical fruit ripening opportunities offered by the region’s domestic and export markets.

Interko will attend the Latin American food fair together with its local Peruvian partner HB Refrigeración . Additionally, Interko and HB Refrigeración will host an invitation-only event at El Polo Apart Hotel & Suites in Lima from 8am until 10am on 22 September. Interko will present its product range and inform ripening operators about the basic challenges of fresh fruit ripening.

Visitors to Expoalimentaria Peru can schedule an appointment to either meet Interko at the trade fair, and/or to attend the presentation by emailing info@interko.com

Managing Director/Partner Chris Maat and Project Manager Narcís Guinart, who both speak Spanish, will travel to Lima for the three-day event.

Interko Managing Director/Partner Chris Maat explains:

“Latin America is a significant source of the world’s tropical fruits, including bananas, avocados and mangoes. Co-exhibiting at Latin America’s most important food fair offers Interko a fantastic chance to expand our local footprint and raise awareness of our brand name, while meeting face-to- face all of our customers from the region.

Maat continues:

“In the past, the dates for Expoalimentaria Peru have conflicted with other major international trade fairs. This year, therefore, Interko is making the most of our opportunity to be present in Lima alongside hundreds of food, beverage, packaging, machinery, equipment and technology exhibitors.”

Maat adds:

“Interko offers an unrivalled proposition thanks to our 50 years of experience and market-leading ripening technology. For Latin American fruit retailers, importers and distributors we can build bespoke ripening rooms equipped with our latest innovative technology. Crucially in this economic environment, by upgrading to Interko ripening rooms, operators will enjoy lower operational costs, reduced energy consumption and minimal product loss, as well as improved product quality, finish and shelf-life.”

Regional installations

Interko offers four types of ripening rooms – Ultimo, Optimo, Axesso and Mobilo – which perfectly accommodate operators of all sizes in Latin America. Interko rooms can be used to ripen numerous fruits, including: bananas,  avocados, mangoes, papayas, pears, apricots, peaches, kiwifruit and tomatoes.

In the last year, the ripening expert has installed multiple Ultimo and Optimo rooms for well-known retailers, distributors, and grower-exporters in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Peru.

Thanks to their advanced technologies, these sophisticated rooms are reaping numerous energy, cost and quality benefits for their operators in the ripening of bananas, mangoes and avocados.

As Interko continues to broaden its reach across Latin America, further projects are in the pipeline for Mexico.

Never complacent, Interko is continually evolving its ripening technology. Recently, the forward-thinking company rolled out its own innovative ripening control system complete with a market-exclusive fail-safe mode.

Next, Interko is revising its ripening room range with newer fans to produce even greater energy savings, while working to reduce its use of materials.
