INTERKO, a world leader in the design, manufacture and installation of state-of-the-art ripening chambers for fruit, has taken advantage of its presence at Fruit Attraction 2021 to present its mobile ripening system, the result of a collaboration of more than five years with the tropical fruit importer and marketer Fyffes.

This solution consists of a shipping container that functions as a ripening chamber for up to 20 pallets. It is thus a technology that is particularly suitable for customers who need flexibility, temporarily increase their ripening capacity, do not have the infrastructure to accommodate a ripening chamber or do not wish to invest in a fixed installation.

Chris Maat, managing partner and director of Interko, explains:

"The chamber is small in size so you can't go inside and therefore you have to rely on its automation and sensors to know what is going on. In a conventional chamber, it's totally different because you can go in and check if everything is OK".

Interko is constantly innovating, especially in automation and control systems, for the continuous improvement of its ripening systems. In this way, Interko's technology aims to improve the quality of fruit and vegetable products, reducing costs, energy consumption and food loss.
