Isolcell installs 15 CA chambers for apples and berries in Switzerland

For the 2023 season, ISOLCELL has completed a project comprising 15 new Controlled Atmosphere (CA) rooms with the capability of adding another 4 rooms in the future. Out of these, 11 rooms serve as CA storage specifically designed for apples, while the remaining 4 rooms are multipurpose spaces intended for rapid cooling and CA storage of berries.

In addition to providing state-of-the-art CA equipment for these 15 rooms, the company has also supplied insulation panels, guardrails, gastight materials, CA doors, humidification systems, and a digital pressure control system for this project.

The installed equipment utilizes its patented technology to maintain the lowest feasible CO2 levels for apple storage. Furthermore, it incorporates an N2 generation system for rapid pull-down purposes. Isolcell has also designed and delivered a CO2/glycol refrigeration system to ensure optimal long-term storage conditions.

Moreover, Isolcell has installed cutting-edge gas analysis and injection technology to facilitate high CO2 storage for berries. The company has implemented a dual central analyzer, offering both control and backup capabilities in the CA and machine rooms for enhanced operational reliability.
