In response to the growing demand from the sector for a specialized platform that brings together and disseminates the most relevant scientific advances in the postharvest field, Actual Poscosecha is being launched, a new scientific and technical dissemination magazine.

Supported by Poscosecha.com, an editorial outlet with over 20 years of experience and prestige in daily news updates and technical content on the leading postharvest technology companies, this publication establishes itself as an indispensable reference for professionals dedicated to the preservation, packaging, and processing of fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals.

A Commitment to Scientific Excellence

With Actual Poscosecha, the portal expands its informational offering, providing the scientific community and the industry with a comprehensive view of the year’s most significant advances. The goal is to bring these advancements to a broader and more diverse audience, promoting knowledge exchange.

To ensure the quality and relevance of the content, we have formed a top-tier advisory committee, composed of renowned researchers such as Dr. Lluís Palou and Dr. Alejandra Salvador from IVIA, Daniel Valero from UMH, Lorenzo Zacarías from IATA-CSIC, Francisco Artés from UPCT, Neus Teixidó and Gemma Echeverría from IRTA, and Benito Orihuel from Citrosol.

The response from the scientific community has been exceptional. In this first edition, we feature 11 articles signed by leading researchers from prominent postharvest technology research centers in Spain. The topics covered are varied and of great interest, including innovations such as new coatings to improve citrus quality, packaging solutions, alternative preservation treatments, and the use of emerging technologies for the circular economy, such as the valorization of food waste. Additionally, studies on persimmon preservation and other minor crops are presented, with a focus on the use of advanced analytical tools such as omics techniques and the electrochemical detection of antioxidants.

We are also honored to include a foreword by Professor Emeritus of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Dr. Francisco Artés Calero, who pays a well-deserved tribute to the pioneers of postharvest horticultural technology in Spain. He highlights how advances in automation, digitization, and genetic improvement have positioned Spain as a global leader in the sector, aligning with the EU’s sustainability and food security goals, and playing a key role in the circular economy and crisis management.

Thus, Actual Poscosecha positions itself as an essential tool for researchers, professionals, and companies in the sector who seek to stay informed about the latest trends and developments in postharvest, contributing to the advancement of more sustainable and efficient solutions.

The magazine is now available, inviting readers to explore the content of this first edition and to join the exciting journey of scientific innovation that is transforming the future of the sector.
