The?1st Berry School?will be organized in line with the?GoodBerry?objectives and addresses early-stage researchers, technicians and experts involved in berry research and berry production sectors. Besides lectures on plant genetics and physiology and fruit quality control the one week program will also comprise a field trip to Huelva, the main area of strawberry production in Spain. Organised in the frame of GoodBerry by the project partner?IFAPA?and the project coordinator?Universidad de M?laga, renowned experts from the project consortium will cover a wide range of multidisciplinary topics:- Improved tools for phenotyping and breeding berries- Cultivation techniques for yield stability and season extension- Development of molecular markers for MAS- Production of high quality berry fruit- High quality production systems- Reducing environmental impact The speakers will thus impart the knowledge and skills required to understand the basics of new tools & cultivation techniques and production of high quality berries and its related systems. These are needed to maintain high yield performance and high fruit quality under extreme environmental conditions. By delivering such solutions, the challenges of increasing productivity efficiency, crop resilience and food quality in the light of climate changes can be addressed. The Berry School is one step into this direction and taking part of the European project. This project has received funding from the European Union?s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreementMore information
