With extensive industry experience in large-scale plant phenotyping installations, Dr. Reidel is also offering consulting services to those considering larger projects. CID Bio-Science is pleased to welcome back one if its former application scientists, Dr. Edwin Reidel, after four years away during which he established the U.S. subsidiary of a major plant phenotyping technologies supplier. Currenlty Dr. Reidel is now heading up the newest venture for CID Bio-Science: CID AgTech. Operating out of the CID BIo-Science headquarters in Camas, Washington, CID AgTech's focus will be on the distribution of HTPP instrumentation in North America to start. The first stage of CID AgTech products are focused on high throughput plant phenotyping (HTPP), an emerging technological toolkit to accelerate the discovery and commercialization of novel plant and seed traits as well as crop growth-enhancing biologicals. The second stage of products will take aim at the farm labor shortage, bringing crop cultivating and harvesting robots to growers. With extensive industry experience in large-scale plant phenotyping installations, Edwin is also offering consulting services to those considering larger projects. If you are interested in any of the products, services, or wish to have CID AgTech Distribute for your products, please contact Edwin! Email Edwin“This new and independent company will be housed within CID Bio-Science to leverage its 28-years of continuous experience in the design, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing of hand-held instruments for plant and food scientists around the globe,” states Leonard Felix, CID AgTech Co-founder and President, “This frees our partner companies to focus on product innovation while we take care of sales, installation, training, repair, and customer service.” CID AgTech will provide a value-added service to technology developers and end users, speeding the process of identifying and selecting technologies while facilitating the acquisition process through purchasing departments. “Scientists in companies, universities, and research institutions often require assistance to identify and select the technologies best suited to accelerate their pace of innovation. On the other side of the coin suppliers need a local presence to reach these customers in the key North America market. I believe the same will be true for growers who wish to adopt robotic technologies for the farm,” adds, Dr. Reidel, company Co-founder and Managing Director. The TopView System offers affordable, sophisticated imaging and analysis in a compact footprintThe first product to be distributed by CID AgTech will be the TopView Multispectral Plant Imaging Box, manufactured by Aris B.V. of the Netherlands, under license to PhenoKey B.V. The TopView Box is a turnkey solution for phenotyping individual plants. With a selection of biologically-relevant LEDs for plant illumination and on-board software, a variety of plant phenotypes can be recorded and analyzed with ease. For more information please visit www.cidagtech.com, which is currently under development. Check back often for updates as more distribution agreements are expected to be finalized before year's end. "I am also very interested in in talking with additional technology companies with relevant products who seek a North America distribution channel," says Dr. Reidel.
