Fruit rot caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Penz is the most serious Post Harvest diseases of Alphonso mango resulting in qualitative reduction which also influences the processing and export of Alphonso mango. In order to study the effect of bio-safe in reducing the post harvest rot, the present investigation was carried out in RBD with 12 treatments and 4 replications. Fruits of uniform maturity were harvested and subjected to fruit dip treatment for 5 min using bio-safe.
Treatment of fruit dip with carbendazim (0.1 %) for 10 min. served as a treated check. Treated fruit were kept for ripening in two distinct sets (Ambient temperature 28?C + 1 0C and cold storage 13 + 10C) as per treatment details. lt was observed that, when fruits were allowed to ripe at ambient temperature, all treatments of fruit dip were significantly superior to control. All concentration of bio-safe tried (2,3,4 & 5 ml/L) were statistically undifferntiable including carbendazim 0.1 % (Treated check). The per cent disease control over control in these treatments ranged between 53.23 to 68.53. This indicated that, biosafe is effective alternative to carbendazim (0.l %) for reduction of post harvest rot of Mango caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides at ambient temperature. At low temperature, 13 + 0C, the treatment of biosafe (0.4 %) was the most effective treatment and was superior over other treatments. This treatment recorded 99.59 % disease control over control treatment. It was followed by biosafe (0.5%) which recorded (86.62 % disease control over control treatment. In the current scenario of organic farming biosafe (0.4%) is good alternative to carbendazim 0.l % for reduction of post harvest rot of Alphonso mango cause by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides.
