First Step+ 10, by AGRICOAT NATURESEAL, is a newly developed antimicrobial produce wash resulting from the collaborative research between NatureSeal, Inc. and the USDA Food Safety and Intervention Technologies Research Unit.  First Step+ 10 antimicrobial wash is a revolutionary enhanced wash solution that enables processors to significantly raise the bar on water savings, process control, food safety, line efficiency, throughput and in-line monitoring capability. It is a co-patented technology between NatureSeal and the USDA.  It is specially formulated with FDA-approved, GRAS ingredients that are 100% water soluble, and biodegradable.  First Step+ 10 is an environmentally friendly mixture of organic acids and hydrogen peroxide, in a liquid concentrate form.  First Step+ 10 has been validated by the USDA and has shown a 99.99% reduction in suspension tests against:Pathogenic bacteria such as:- Listeria monocytogenes- Salmonella enterica Serovars- E. coli O157:H7- Staphylococcus aureusSpoilage microorganisms such as Pseudomonas. First Step+ 10 is also an environmentally friendly product.  Constituent ingredients break down into water, oxygen, and organic acids when in contact with produce or other organic matter for significant periods of time.   No toxic compounds, therefore, are formed or added to the environment, unlike that which occurs with chlorine.  First Step+ 10 is 100% biodegradable, is OMRI listed for organic use, and it does not compromise the taste, texture, aroma or appearance of fresh produce.
