Good results with CA storage to keep blueberry quality

Blueberry fruits were packed into microporous membrane bag, 0.03mm polyethylene (PE) bag and controlling atmosphere (CA: 8%-10% CO2, 5%-7% O2) box and then stored at 0 for 50 days. The postharvest qualities of blueberry fruits were investigated at interval. The results showed that sensory evaluation, firmness, the contents of soluble solid, vitamin C and titratable acidity of blueberries decreased gradually. However, weight loss increased in all treatments during cold storage. The methods with CA storage (8%-10% CO2, 5%-7% O2) of blueberry fruits at 0 were the best. Its sensory evaluation, firmness, weight loss, the contents of soluble solid, vitamin C and titratable acidity of blueberry after 50 days storage were 3.4, 89.6g, 6.75%, 10.4, 19.81mg/100g, 0.58%, respectively, and make fine fruit rate of lightlyprocessed blueberry up to 90.7%. Therefore, CA storage can extend the shelf life of blueberry.
