Prof. Colelli appointed as the new chairman of the "Postharvest and Quality Assurance" Division of ISHS

Prof. Giancarlo Colelli (University of Foggia, Italy) was appointed Chairman of the "Postharvest and Quality Assurance" Division (and member of the Executive Committee) of the International Society of Horticultural Science last week in Angers, France, during the IHC Congress. ISHS is the world's largest Scientific Society dealing with research and education in all fruit and vegetable production branches, representing a truly global network comprising individuals, universities, governments, institutions, libraries, and commercial companies, with over 6,000 members, in nearly all Countries of the world. "I feel the new assignment as a great responsibility within this scientific community and as a recognition of the important role the Research Unit in Postharvest Technology at University of Foggia has played throughout the world for the advancement of research and education in postharvest-related topics.? says Giancarlo Colelli Colelli, "For my part, I will try to honor this commitment aware of the many issues of interest on the table, ranging from the reduction of postharvest losses and waste to the application of smart technologies, from the environmental sustainability to the extension of the commercial life of products, just to name a few". Prof. Colelli, who is currently Chairman of the Postharvest Working Group of the Italian Horticultural Society (SOI), takes the new position over Prof. Chris B. Watkins (Cornell University, USA) who served for 24-year terms and will be supported by vice Chairman Dr. Sukhvinder Pal Singh (NSW Department of Primary Industries, Australia).
