Sustainable application of edible coatings and phytosanitaries

DECCO IBÉRICA is committed to sustainability in treatments and equipment to extend the shelf life and postharvest quality of fruit and vegetables. For this reason, it took advantage of the last edition of Fruit Attraction to present its launches, including Deccocover, a piece new and revolutionary equipment for the application of edible coatings and phytosanitaries. The machine, which is currently protected and in the patent phase, is based on the innovative technological development of "ultra-low volume" dosing. In this way, the equipment achieves a more efficient application, with less water consumption and minimum spillage. Besides, Deccocover allows a perfect adherence to the nebulized on the treated fruit and, therefore, optimal coverage.

Deccocover is an environmentally friendly technology because it saves:- Water thanks to ULV application- Electricity consumption as there is no need for next drying- Phytosanitary because the same residue is obtained but with a lower dose of application. Deccocover is installed at the end of the pre-calibration and is adaptable to the requirements of customers wishing to differentiate treatments. It is available in various versions depending on the crop and is especially suitable for those in which only dry applications can be made, such as avocados, mangoes and pineapples. Finally, Decco Ibérica presented Citrashine Long Life, a postharvest citrus wax that, thanks to its excellent properties, maintains the good condition of the fruit in shipments to destinations more than 40 days away. Citrashine Long Life is characterised by maintaining the firmness and shine of the fruit, as well as helping to reduce weight loss and cold damage. Finally, Citrashine Long Life meets the goal of complying with the requirements of refrigeration protocols, minimising the harm associated with cold storage.
