Sustainable production of cherries

The final meeting of the COST FA1104 action entitled ?Sustainable production of high-quality cherries for the European market? was held in Naoussa (Macedonia, Greece) from 4 to 8 April 2016. Conference was attended by 140 registered delegates, coming from 31 countries. Key findings of the Conference are depicted in the document below with illustrated figures. Authors are the convenors of the meeting, George Manganaris, Cyprus University of Technology; Athanasios Molassiotis, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; and Nikolaos Papadopoulos, University of Thessaly. Highlighted aspects are rootstock influence in vigour, density of plantation, training systems for? intensive orchards, enhancing production of lateral fruiting shoots, main sweet cherry cultivars, heating for early production, pruning systems, artificial pollination, preharvest use of oxalic acid, pest management -particularly Drosophilla suzukii-. ?
