Poland is among the European and world leaders in the production of blueberries, which is why the Highbush Blueberry Conference is held there. Blueberry production in Poland continues to be a profitable and growing business. From year to year the planted area, which already exceeds 7000 ha, increases, and so does fruit production. Poland is among the European and world leaders in the production of blueberries, which is why the Highbush Blueberry Conference is held there. The fifth edition of the most important industry event will take place on 2-3 March 2017 where the lectures will be in Polish with simultaneous translation into English. European and world leaderOnly Spain is ahead of Poland in terms of production volume in Europe, while among the world?s largest producers of blueberries Poland is in the 6th place. The 2016 harvest is estimated at 14,000 tons and was lower compared to the previous year by about 2 000 tons. The interest in producing blueberries in Poland, however, is still growing. So far, producers have no problems with sales, which is due to good organization of the market. Producers are represented by the Polish Blueberry Growers Association. They are well organized and able to work together. An example of such cooperation is the Polish Berry Cooperative, an association of 3 producer groups, with the total production area of over 400 ha. The key product of the Cooperative are premium blueberries offered under the Berry Good brand. Producers of blueberries are also involved in the promotion of their fruit. On July 1, the industry celebrates the National Blueberry Day, marking the beginning of the Polish season. Success thanks to good organization and cooperationThe development and progress in the Polish blueberry business are the result of high standards of fruit production. Polish blueberry farms are among the most modern not just in Europe but worldwide. Hand-picked fruit is of excellent quality and it is sought after by foreign buyers. The vast majority of fruit is exported to demanding markets such as Great Britain, Germany and Scandinavia. The best growers from Poland and Europe meet at the annual Highbush Blueberry Conference, which in 2017 will be held on 2-3 March in Mazurkas Hotel in Ozarow Mazowiecki. Over 700 delegates participated in the 2016 edition of the event. From the very beginning Highbush Blueberry Conference has been organized by jagodnik.pl internet portal and the Jagodnik magazine.
