ITAUEIRA, a Brazilian producer of REI and CEPI melons, is the first South American melon grower to receive the?Rainforest Alliance Certified?seal (2nd picture). This sustainability certificate was awarded after careful assessment of all key criteria in September 2016. Melons with this seal are being presented as a?world premiere?at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2017. All melons and watermelons produced by the company are now certified by the Rainforest Alliance. The melons are grown on farms in the Brazilian states of Piau?, Cear? and Rio Grande do Norte. These agricultural operations meet strict environmental and social standards. They support the preservation of wildlife, soil and water, protect the environment, safeguard workers, families and communities, and help improve their quality of life.
