The Valencian Community occupies a prominent position in the production and export of citrus, favored by the high quality of its products and its ability to access international markets. However, to maintain and improve this position, it is crucial to address challenges such as international competition and climate change through innovation and sustainability.
In this context, the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA), AgroBank, and Poscosecha.com are organizing the III Citrus Postharvest Conference, which will take place on Thursday, September 19, from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM in Valencia. This event will be held both in-person and online, allowing participation through live streaming from anywhere in the world.
This conference aims to become an annual meeting point for marketing, industry, distribution, and research, serving as a forum for discussion among key stakeholders in the value chain.
In the previous edition, over 700 people attended in both formats, including technicians and managers from the world's leading citrus packinghouses, researchers, specialists from leading postharvest supply companies, and supermarket buyers.
During the event, there will be a commercial and technical analysis of the previous campaign and forecasts for the upcoming one. Additionally, new commercial postharvest innovations will be unveiled.
Among the confirmed presentations, Belén Vercher, Corporate Quality Manager for Postharvest and Finished Product at Bollo Natural Fruit, will highlight the postharvest challenges and issues in the warehouse during the 2023 Campaign.
In addition, Mª Teresa Miñana, Quality Manager at ZENALCO S.A.U., will explain the activities of the AUCHAN Group in the citrus family.
Finally, Alejandra Salvador will provide details on the advancements from the IVIA Postharvest Technology Center. Additionally, the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC) will participate in discussions, offering their perspective on the latest research in the postharvest field.
