When I set foot on Peruvian soil, the fruit industry was in full swing, like a vast orchard in constant growth. From then until now, I have witnessed a remarkable evolution, a transformation that has positioned Peru as a prominent player on the global agro-export stage.

The Peruvian agro-export industry has not only improved but has flourished impressively. From the expansion of its crops to the implementation of innovative technologies, it has demonstrated remarkable maturity in a short time. It's true that we face challenges, such as the low season of 2023 due to climate issues, but optimism prevails for the near future.

What are the strengths that have driven this meteoric rise? The answer lies in varietal selection, geographical diversity, and efficient irrigation systems. These pillars have allowed Peru to offer a continuous fruit supply throughout the year, challenging even traditionally dominant countries in the market. However, we cannot overlook the inherent challenges of this industry, from the whims of the weather to price fluctuations.

Can Chile, with its rich fruit-growing tradition, match Peru's success in blueberries, avocados, and grapes? This is a question that deserves deep reflection. Chile has a solid foundation, but the fruit world is rapidly evolving towards high-yield varieties and competitive costs. Varietal change is imperative, an investment in the future that requires long-term vision and determination.

In Peru, we observe highly specialized and integrated operations, a supply chain that maximizes efficiency and quality. It is a model to consider on the path to fruit-growing excellence. In Chile, the Blueberry Committee and genetics companies are taking bold steps in this direction, recognizing the need to adapt to current challenges.

From my experience in Peru, I have learned that success in agro-exporting is not achieved solely through the abundance of resources, but through the ability to adapt and evolve constantly. Peru has demonstrated this ability, and now is the time for Chile and other countries to follow its example, navigating towards a more promising and sustainable fruit-growing future.

About PacLife

PacLife was born as an innovative company in the development of high permeability packaging for the preservation of horticultural products. Its name represents a new generation of active packaging that interacts with the products inside, modifying the internal atmosphere and significantly extending the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables. This advancement has been proven and demonstrated convincingly in recent export seasons of the Chilean fruit industry.

The applied technology is a development patented by PacLife, evident from the sealing of the bags. Inside, the fruits and vegetables continue to breathe, reducing the concentration of oxygen and increasing that of carbon dioxide. This process creates a balanced atmosphere that extends freshness and preserves the flavor and organoleptic characteristics of the products.

PacLife has numerous trials and certifications that support the effectiveness of its technology.
