Passion fruit, also known as maracuyá, is primarily grown in tropical and subtropical climates. The main producing countries include Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and some African nations.

Passion fruit has a growing demand in international markets due to its unique flavor and nutritional properties. It is used both for direct consumption and in the food industry for making juices, desserts, sauces, and bakery products. The main export destinations are usually European and North American countries. The demand has also increased due to the popularity of healthy and exotic products.

The Xgo™ Film Delays the Ripening of Passion Fruit during Shipping

The Xgo™ film is designed to delay the ripening process of passion fruit, ensuring that the fruit maintains its quality despite the long sea journey from Colombia to Europe.

As it is already packaged for retail sale, the fruit does not need to be repackaged upon arrival.

The main component of the Xgo™ roll film by StePacPPC is chemically recycled polyamide 6 from BASF. It is specially adapted for automated packaging and ensures that fresh products retain their quality, resulting in less food waste. The film, containing recycled artificial resin, also contributes to a functional circular economy.

StePacPPC is the first company to use recycled material in modified atmosphere packaging for fresh produce, thereby meeting increasingly strict food packaging standards.
