Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) are a leading cause of death globally, killing an estimated 40 million people annually. According to the World Health Organization (WHO). Noncommunicable Diseases were responsible in 2015 for 70% of the world's 56 million deaths, with 27% (15 million) dying prematurely (between the ages of 30 and 70). Over 80% of these premature deaths occurred in low- and middle-income countries. WHO estimates that deaths from NCDs are likely to increase globally by 17% over the next 10 years, and the Africa Region will experience a 27% increase, that is 28 million additional deaths from these conditions which are projected to

Noncommunicable Diseases were responsible in 2015 for 70% of the world's 56 million deaths, with 27% (15 million) dying prematurely (between the ages of 30 and 70). Over 80% of these premature deaths occurred in low- and middle-income countries. WHO estimates that deaths from NCDs are likely to increase globally by 17% over the next 10 years, and the Africa Region will experience a 27% increase, that is 28 million additional deaths from these conditions which are projected to exceed deaths due to communicable diseases such as Malaria, HIV, Hepatitis C, Dengue, and Tuberculosis. In order to characterize the causes and mobilize control strategies for Noncommunicable Diseases in Africa and globally, the World Food Preservation Center LLC in conjunction with the Noncommunicable Disease Alliance in Kenya, Organic Consumers Alliance, and Elea Africa have organized the "1st Global Congress on Safe Food & Noncommunicable Diseases" that will be held in Nairobi, Kenya the 26-28th of August, 2020.
