All about the DA-Meter, the instrument to measure the ripening stage in the tree and postharvest

Ripening stage is a crucial information to decide the harvest and to decide the capacity of a fruit to be stored. The DA Index® or index ?A is an index of the state of maturation of the fruit based on the difference of absorbance at two wavelengths: one at which has the maximum absorption by chlorophyll-type and a second, used as a reference , chosen to have the minimum change in absorbance during the whole period of fruit ripening. The value of DA is proportional to the amount of chlorophyll present in the fruit. Since this tends to fall off during

Since this tends to fall off during maturation, the DA Index® will tend to decrease over time, reaching values close to 0 for fruits already overly ripe for commercial use.  The DA-Meter, delivered worldwide by TR Turoni, is the instrument that allows the measurement of the DA and counts on an own web site where you can find information about the history, how to use it, what does it do, as well as additonal information about the research and profesional team behind it.The instrument works with yellow fruit (peaches, apples, etc…), red fruit (cherries, black cherries, etc…), and kiwis.ACCESS to the DA-Meter web site TO ASK FOR MORE information
