Tentative Sessions are as follows:I. Postharvest Disease Management: Generating Ideas and Innovation.II. Discovery, Development, and Commercial Application of Microbial Biocontrol Agents.III. Management of the Epiphytic Microbiome on Harvested Commodities.IV. BioSensors for Postharvest Disease Management.V. Impact of Biotic and Abiotic Stress on Gene Expression and Disease Resistance in Harvested Commodities.VI. Alternative Approaches for Managing Diseases of Tropical and Subtropical Fruits. The first workshop was held two years ago at Leesburg, Virginia, USA,? in October 2010. This symposium will explore the development and biology of postharvest biocontrol systems and the use of alternative methods such as physical treatments or natural compounds as additives or stand alone treatments. The long-term goal of this series of symposia is to facilitate the development and use of alternative methods of postharvest disease control as an effective and commercially-viable approach to postharvest disease management on a global basis. The Symposium will provide opportunities to exchange information between scientists, research institutions, and industry on postharvest diseases of fruits and vegetables.
