What is the main focus in Catalytic Generators proposal?The process of producing ethylene in ripening rooms was invented and patented by Catalytic Generators in 1973.  The system consists of a catalytic-type generator that converts a liquid concentrate, called Ethy-Gen® II, into safe levels of ethylene, which is a natural plant hormone produced by many fruits, including bananas, tomatoes, avocados, mangos, and pears. We aim to provide ethylene generators that safely apply ethylene to fresh produce and fit multiple ripening room needs with our various designs.  Our flagship generator, the Easy-Ripe®, is a portable unit that provides consistent, non-pressurized ethylene on a continual basis in order to achieve uniform ripening and degreening. The Centralized Ripening System® (CRS) is a wall-mounted system that connects multiple rooms to one central supply of Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate. The  Auto-Ripe® Generator, newly redesigned and launched as the Auto-Ripe® 2021 Generator, is wall-mounted solution at only 5.6 inches / 14.2 cm depth which makes it an ideal solution for narrow ripening rooms. All of our generators feature an adjustable ethylene output which allows for adaption to any ethylene ppm requirement or room size, user-friendly operation and continuous, consistent ethylene production for superior ripening and degreening. Catalytic Generators is present in this market? For which products?Ethylene is a natural plant hormone that affects the growth, development, ripening, and aging of all plants. For many, ethylene is solely linked to the ability to initiate ripening of traditional fruits, like bananas, in 20-40 pallet pressurized ripening rooms. However, ethylene has a multitude of uses including the ripening and degreening of organics, tropical fruits, field-grown tomatoes, greenhouse tomatoes, tobacco and even sprout suppression of potatoes and onions! Within the fresh produce industry our ethylene generators are being used for ethylene application in tropical fruit (bananas, mangos, avocados, papayas, citrus, and more!), field-grown tomatoes, and greenhouse tomatoes. Our products can be used in the ripening of organic tropical produce, as well. According to the United States’ National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), ethylene is allowed for postharvest ripening of tropical fruit and degreening of citrus. In the past year, we’ve partnered with the National Mango Board and Pear Bureau Northwest to spread awareness to the success of retailers that have undertaken a conditioned pear and/or mango program. In previous years, retailers focused on the longest shelf-life possible to avoid spoilage or waste, save on costs, and make the most sales. There is irony in this way of thinking, though, as a multitude of data proves that the expense of an ethylene ripening program to provide consumers with ripe, ready to eat fruit will help increase sales tremendously. As ethylene is odorless, we’ve developed Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate to include a slightly sweet smell so that our customers can open the doors to a ripening room and know immediately that it is working.  Catalytic Generators is constantly developing improvements to its range of products. The newest is the Auto Ripe Generator 2021, that fits for rooms with scarce space. Which kind of improvements does it include?Beyond the leaner, vertical design, this model also features low-level indication lights that turn on when the reservoir of Ethy-Gen® II reaches low levels of 250 mL (0.26 qt.) or less (this can also be connected to a ripening room control system for remote notification). This allows our customers to easily see when each ethylene generator needs to be refilled whether they are located at the front or back of a room. While most customers like the ability to pour in 4 litres of Ethy-Gen II, some desire a smaller reservoir in order to hold just enough for one ripening cycle.  So, we now have two other reservoir sizes are available, 2.5 and 1.0 litre. At only 5.6 inches / 14.2 cm depth, the Auto-Ripe® is an ideal solution for narrow ripening rooms. Ripeners will have a peace mind as forklifts and other mechanical equipment enter and exit ripening rooms with this slim design. Ethylene output is adjustable for multiple room sizes, which means the Auto-Ripe® can adapt to any ethylene PPM requirements. For larger rooms, additional units easily achieve proper ethylene levels. Auto Ripe® Generators hold enough Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate to perform up to four ripening cycles, in a one or two load ripening room. Like our other models, the new Auto-Ripe complies with TÜV safety standards!
