Food Safety: The new challenge for fruit and vegetable export

2020 has marked a before and after due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19 and the export market has not been left out of this. 2020 has marked a before and after due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19 and the export market has not been left out of this. New challenges and demands are still taking shape, however, safety has acquired an important role in this, because in a globalized world profoundly important health precautions should be taken. Thanks to its more than thirty-five years of experience in the field of flexible plastics and working together with the export industry, Paclife managed to anticipate the contingency, patenting a technology to control pathogens and external agents, as a result, obtaining smart and active packaging that preserves fruits and vegetables, extending their shelf life by more than 200% under refrigeration conditions. Although a few months ago in Chile, having a package that allowed a transit of 25-30 days was sufficient, Paclife's objective has always been to provide a differentiated technology that is capable of withstanding temperature breaks, protecting the fruit from the concentration of gases within the packaging, extreme conditions, or even to unexpected changes in plans for up to 70 days. In this way, Paclife plays a fundamental role in supporting the fruit and vegetable sector, currently being an essential tool for shipping vegetables to distant and demanding destinations such as China, where they have incorporated severe measures to add food safety and guarantee healthy and safe products.
