Giró joins the Operation Clean Sweep® initiative to prevent the emission of plastic particles into the environment

A part of marine litter is made up of pellets used to produce articles of our daily life. Mixed with other debris, marine animals can ingest it. Preventing the loss of pellets, flakes or resin is the responsibility of the entire supply chain, such as production, transport, and handling, as well as the transformation and recycling phase. Therefore and in developing its positive impact strategy, Grupo Giró has joined the Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) initiative. This is a program initiative of the plastics industry, coordinated in Spain by ANAIP (Asociación Española de Industriales de Plásticos), whose main objective is to avoid the emission into the environment of plastic particles (pellets, flakes, dust) that may be produced unintentionally at any of the stages of the value chain. OCS offers tools to help each plastic player apply good handling and maintenance practices in their industrial plants. This is a voluntary initiative through which Giró undertakes that plastic pellets are controlled within all its production and logistics processes in order to avoid possible losses that may affect the environment.
