The 2015 edition of Fruit Attraction ended last Friday, October 30th. Our impressions regarding the event are similar to the ones we had visiting the previous edition. The show is growing strongly. According to the management, a 20% increase in the number of stands this year. And with an increased international presence, both on exhibitors and visitors. A compact spatial arrangement - four pavilions facing each other in pairs ? makes for the visitor the stroll among the stands very comfortable. And also the exhibiting companies are arranged in a way that makes easier to visit the stands: producers and traders of fruit and vegetables are located at the front of each pavilion and technology providers further back - mainly grouped in two pavilions. Postharvest companies are gathered in the other two pavilions. Conference rooms are also located in the pavilions, an arrangement that allows for short walks to all events. Companies? presentations did not attract large crowds. Being scheduled at the same time that the main exhibition, overlapping was unavoidable. But the lectures offer a great possibility to follow the steps of product development and innovations. A good example were the presentations about logistics, held on the last day of the exhibition. The range of activities covers all stages of the value chain. Starting with the grower and following the links further down to the point of sale and the restaurant. Cooking demonstrations are a source of inspiration for the use of new varieties and stimulate more ideas about how to use already known products. In short, Fruit Attraction is solidly settled on the trade show schedule. A growing number of companies consider the event as an alternative to Fruit Logistica in Berlin, offering the possibility of alternating presence, each one at a turn. And it has the added attractive of being located close to the production areas. And also placed in Madrid, an undeniable tourist magnet.Alicia Namesny, info@postharvest.biz
