Investing in purer agro-food water also means investing in the environment

Jacco van Kessel of Van Kessel Fruit, explains its recent investment on VAM WaterTech technologies: "By thoroughly cleaning the transport water for our apples, we primarily provide a healthier product for consumers: apples with no or extremely low pollution on the skin (e.g. bacteria and pesticides), that are free of diseases due to our prevention of cross-contamination. This allows us to meet the increasing demands and wishes of consumers and supermarket chains in regards to quality and food safety. The reduced bacterial and germ load also has a positive effect on the shelf life of the products, and thus enables significant cost savings in the supply chain. Finally, we save significantly (more than 50%) on the amount of water that we use for our processes. The installation is fully automated and hardly requires any attention. VAM WATERTECH monitors the process remotely, and provides quick solutions in case of emergencies. We are also very pleased with the contribution to the environment by our latest investment. Because we depend on natural production resources in order to provide a healthy natural product, CSR is of utmost importance to Van Kessel and the entire industry. We must be careful with our water and our farmlands. With the VAM WaterTech clean water system we discharge once in 6 weeks only, entirely within the requirements of the Water Board. Thus we extract much less water from the environment, and the water we return back into the environment is purified in such a way that no pollution will occur. All in all a good investment for us, our customers, consumers and the environment".
