Macfrut 2014, a special edition

Last week, from 24 to 26 September 2014, took place the 31st edition of MACFRUT, international fruit and vegetable exhibition held in Cesena, N Italy. This is a special edition because Macfrut rethinks its future; next year may be performed in Bologna, Milan, Verona ... in a search for a site more accessible to visitors (the current has the nearest airport 100 km, in Bologna). As usual in the fair there were also visitors from Africa, from the former Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Exhibitors also included an isle stand with manufacturers in China. The technology offer included?Unitec stand, showing this year the concept of specific solutions solutions for more than 30 species of fruits and vegetables, together with the versatility of the ?Jolly? grading machines, for a list of different species; Maf Roda highlighted the versatility of its teams "all purpose" to work different species with the same machine, and evaluation of the hardness of the fruits; a machine of Sammo Longobardi prepares trays with a set of fruit pieces; packaging machines multipurpouse, able to make hortizontal (flow pack) and vertical packaging, with very scarce needs of space.?Bizerba unveiled a new hygienic scale to weigh food, easy to clean, all stainless steel, as well as a label data checker, a success in the market. The conference program included a session to explanation of the Italian program to develop new of berries (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, etc.), which makes feasible actually to count on a much broader harvesting period than 10 years before. The visit to the nursery Battistini showed the installations of a company producing 6 millions of plants, including berry plants. Another trip field visited a pomegranate orchard.
