With products characterized by quality, freshness and flavour, Peru has evolved over the past few years to become a key player in the international fresh produce trade. Peru, which has exhibited at FRUIT LOGISTICA over the past ten years, now has annual exports of fruit and vegetables of 842 million tonnes valued at USD 1.12 billion. During this period the Latin American country's agribusiness sector has continuously increased in efficiency. The Peruvian fresh produce trade is characterised by its wide range of fruit and vegetables and is capable of supplying the Northern Hemisphere with produce based on seasonal demand. Well acquainted with the needs of markets and consumers, Peru has managed to establish itself as a successful export nation with a strong emphasis on social standards for production workers. From 6 to 8 February Peru will be exhibiting as the official partner country at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2013 with its largest exhibition display ever. Over the past eleven years, Peru’s fresh produce exports increased from USD 101 million to USD 1.12 billion, which is equivalent to an average annual growth rate of 27%. The European Union (42%) and the U.S. (40%) being key markets for this fast-growing fresh produce trading nation. In the fresh produce trade, Peru is associated with products ranging from table grapes, asparagus and avocados, to mangos, bananas and citrus. Other products also show significant growth potential: pomegranates, passion fruit, Aguaymanto (Physalis peruviana) and cherimoya (Anonna). Peru will be presenting its prowess at FRUIT LOGISTICA on an exhibition stand covering more than 500m² in Hall 25, with some 65 companies along with key Peruvian agricultural industry organizations and fresh produce trade associations. Peru’s presence as the official FRUIT LOGISTICA 2013 partner country is being organized by PROMPERU in cooperation with the Peruvian trade associations and companies from the sector. FRUIT LOGISTICA 2013 will be officially opened on 6 February at the Peruvian exhibition stand.
