Pistachio cultivation in Spain has seen significant growth in recent years, emerging as a profitable and sustainable alternative for many farmers. This growth is driven by several key factors, including the increasing consumer demand for healthy eating, which has fueled a surge in pistachio consumption.

Spain is well-positioned to meet the demands of this expanding market, thanks to its favorable climate, proximity to major international markets, and long-standing experience in growing other nuts. With 60,000 hectares of pistachios already planted, a third of which are already in production, both traditional and new farmers are investing in this promising crop.

SPE3 is preparing the publication "Pistachio Cultivation, Postharvest, Processing, and Trade" (in Spanish language) for Biblioteca Horticultura, joining previous works on crops of significant economic interest such as citrus fruits, berries, avocados, horticultural technology, and irrigation.
