Water has been a constant challenge for agriculture, particularly in southeastern Spain, where farmers have faced water scarcity for decades. Despite advances in solutions like drip irrigation and the construction of desalination plants, rainfall fluctuations have become more pronounced, leading to both extreme droughts and unexpected floods.

International experts have warned about the growing challenges posed by the interaction between water and food production, highlighting the urgency for governments to prepare to face future climatic and water extremes.

In response to this situation, the editorial group SPE3, which encompasses the digital platforms Poscosecha.com, Tecnología Hortícola, Actual FruVeg, and Biblioteca Horticultura, has published the book Water Sustainability in Horticulture and Postharvest (in Spanish). This work offers a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between water and agriculture, emphasizing technological innovations aimed at optimizing water use in cultivation, preservation, and food processing. Additionally, the book presents various research projects focused on water sustainability, with contributions from experts, researchers, and technicians from leading companies in the horticultural sector, ensuring a specialized and rigorous approach in each chapter.
