Cool Research on the Move: a unique cooperation between WUR and Fotein

Building a mobile laboratory requires knowledge and research experience. Fotein can prove this knowledge and experience in a collaboration with the University of Wageningen (WUR): Connecting research to the practice. For this assignment, we listened closely to Food- and Biobased research (FBR, part of the WUR) and designed the project in detail in AutoCAD. The laboratory is equipped with 10 research containers where the effects of conditioning can be measured. Each individual research container has a capacity of 80 kilos of fresh product. Target values for temperature and gas conditions can be individually set for every container. The containers are cooled with glycol in a cooling system that was specifically developed for this project. The lab also contains a pre-cooling area, and a small test area for quality checks. The power of the laboratory is the size. The entire lab is built in a 40 foot shipping container, which makes it easy to transport. The lab will be rented out to research centers around the world who would like to perform research on short or medium term.More informationCool Research on the move Fotein
