53215 fruit durometer, the non-destructive hardness tester

The 53215 durometer has been specially designed by TR. TURONI to determine the hardness of blueberries, cherries, and other small soft fruits, a very important parameter during quality control.

The 53215 durometer is a non-destructive device, therefore:

1. The various levels of maturation can be determined directly on the plant, during the whole growing cycle
2. Measurements can be carried out on products where the destructive hardness testers don't give acceptable results

The use of the instrument is very simple: place the plunger against the fruit and progressively press until the fruit is completely against the grey basement of the plunger.

For a more exhaustive control, it is recommended to take several samples and carry out the measurements at two opposite points of each fruit.

The determined value corresponds to the average of the two measurements and is expressed in degrees Shore.
