A call to all agricultural "Big Data" and "Artificial Intelligence" experts to jointly wage a battle against WORLD HUNGER

The world is running out of food and we are not on a sustainable path to meet this crisis that has been described as the ?Single greatest challenge in human history? (Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, 2016). It has been estimated that by 2050 the world?s population will reach 9.6 billion people. Even with our advanced food production technologies it has been shown clearly that we are falling far short of the food needed to feed the world's ballonning population. Consequently we can expect world hunger to accelerate greatly with accompanying political unrest, and world conflict.

The world is running out of food and we are not on a sustainable path to meet this crisis that has been described as the “Single greatest challenge in human history” (Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, 2016). It has been estimated that by 2050 the world’s population will reach 9.6 billion people. Even with our advanced food production technologies it has been shown clearly that we are falling far short of the food needed to feed the world's ballonning population. Consequently we can expect world hunger to accelerate greatly with accompanying political unrest, and world conflict. In order to chart a sustainable path toward meeting this world food shortage crisis it is imperative that we make intelligent decisions NOW as to our course of action. The complexity of the multiple factors that go into determining food security for the world are beyond the capability of the human brain alone to comprehend and analyze. Fortunately, the advent of artificial intelligence gives hope of addressing such "wicket problems" as world hunger and making more intelligent decisions as to how to attack them. I am proposing that we bring together the world’s experts on agricultural “Big Data” and “Artificial Intelligence” into a single project to attack world hunger. Such an effort will require a level of support that is commensurate with the magnitude of the problem. With this e-mail I am appealing to you to join me in this mission that I believe could be the most important thing that any of us has ever done. In order to  to visualize what artificial intelligence can do in guiding our decision making in attacking world hunger I created “AGRI” in 2014. This cognitive computing model could be used as a starting point on our journey to meet the challenge ahead to reduce world hunger.More informationCharles L.
