CRC Press (Taylor & Francis) Signs Cooperative Agreement with World Food Preservation Center LLC

In recognition of the importance of reducing postharvest losses of food worldwide, the need to expand graduate postharvest programs, and to create new textbooks on the postharvest preservation of food that is lost, the World Food Preservation Center LLC and CRC Press, are partnering to produce together the World Food Preservation Center LLC Book Series.Because they live on the margins of food security, developing countries suffer more from the postharvest losses of food where such losses often exceed 50% of the harvested crop. A critical need exists for textbooks and reference books that address the postharvest losses of food in developing countries and provide solutions that can be adopted in areas with limited resources.The World Food Preservation Center LLC Book Series will consist of edited books addressing postharvest food loss problems especially in developing countries. Classical postharvest biology and technology will be covered with applications for developing countries in the harvesting, storage, transport, and marketing of food. New technologies for the preservation of food in developing countries will be explored including solar refrigeration, non-thermal processing, active and intelligent packaging, biological control, solar drying, hermetic storage, food safety, vertical agriculture, food export, and gender issues. The books will be aimed at professional food scientists, academicians researching postharvest food problems, and graduate level students.The World Food Preservation Center LLC is comprised of eleven major research universities on six continents, the ARO Volcani Center in Israel, and GrainPro, a major manufacturer of postharvest technologies, The World Food Preservation Education Foundation Corporation has been established as a nonprofit 501( c) (3) organization dedicated to providing scholarships and research funds to young scientists from developing countries attending “Sister” Universities of the World Food Preservation Center LLC to receive M.S. and Ph.D. postharvest degrees.CRC Press is a premier publisher of science, technology, and medical reference books, textbooks and online content, reaching around the globe to collect essential reference material and the latest advances for researchers, academics, professionals and students.
