The World Food Preservation Center® LLC (WFPC) has as its overall mission the enhancement of  “postharvest intellectual capital” in developing countries. We see this as a long term and sustainable way to attack world hunger. The WFPC is accomplishing its mission by: (1) promoting the postharvest education (M.S. and Ph.D.) of young/student scientists in developing countries (2) organizing continent wide congresses on the postharvest preservation of food in developing countries; and (3)  publication of advanced reference/text books on the postharvest preservation of food in developing countries through the World Food Preservation Center Book Series. The World Food Preservation Center® LLC is launching a new initiative and would greatly appreciate your input and help. We plan to educate young secondary students in developing countries globally in advanced knowledge on how to save food after it is harvested. These students will also be taught how food can be kept safe and nutritious after it is harvested. The knowledge obtain by students studying these postharvest curricula will greatly enhance food security for the student, their families, and communities. This new ambitious initiative is to develop secondary/vocational education postharvest curricula/texts targeted to the postharvest preservation of food in developing countries globally. We plan to: (1) identify outstanding postharvest secondary education curricula/texts in both the developed and developing world that are successful,(2) engage outstanding secondary educators and administrators in developing countries that will form regional committees to identify the present status of postharvest agricultural education in their schools and the need for postharvest curricula/texts; and finally (3) the production and dissemination of postharvest curricula/texts to developing countries. One suggestion has been that we develop “master postharvest teachers” in the developed world that can help initiate postharvest curricula/texts in developing countries. Here is how you can help: (1) the identification  of excellent postharvest secondary education curricula/texts in both the developed and developing world; (2) the identification of outstanding secondary school educators/administrators in developing countries; and  (3) the identification of volunteer and financial support for this initiative.I would be remiss if I did not express my appreciation to Professor Arthur Bamunuarachchi at the  University of Sri Jayawardanapura in Sri Lanka for originally suggesting this initiative.Below is link describing this initiative that I would appreciate you sending to anyone that you think might want to join us in this effort:https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/targeted-investments-agricultural-education-countries-wilsonMore informationCharles L.
